Born into the heart of the advertising world, Tom’s childhood was steeped in creativity, thanks to his parents’ roles in the industry. Born to Fashion Editor & Celebrity Stylist mother Jillie Murphy and Advertising Producer & Artist father, Tony Deane, he was raised amidst the bustling sets of magazine shoots, advertising productions, and tv & film sets, igniting a passion for media and the creative landscape from a tender age.

Educated at the prestigious Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, UK, Tom continued his journey into the realm of media and advertising by pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Media Studies at the University of Chichester. Here, he delved into the intricacies of marketing, advertising, film theory, and broader media landscapes, laying the groundwork for his multifaceted career ahead.

Tom’s professional journey began humbly, starting work experience as a Runner at BFCS and James Garrett and Partners in London. Over the span of two decades, he honed his craft, amassing a diverse skill set within marketing, advertising, and creative realms.

 

Notable milestones include his tenure as Chief Operating Officer at Ravel in Brisbane, Australia, and his role as Managing Creative Director at Brighter Films in London, UK. Additionally, Tom spearheaded the establishment and management of the internal Media Production team for global publisher John Wiley & Sons’ EMEA region, leaving an indelible mark on the company’s operations. He also aided the Launch of TalkTalk’s IPTV offering as a TV Producer.

Beyond his corporate roles, Tom’s influence extends to industry-wide recognition, evidenced by his active involvement in multiple judging bodies. As a Creative Leader and Strategist, he has collaborated with a diverse clientele, spanning SMEs to State Governments and multinational corporations. Tom’s approach is characterised by a steadfast dedication to crafting innovative brand and communications strategies tailored to each client’s distinctive narrative and objectives.

With an illustrious career marked by creativity, strategic acumen, and a commitment to excellence, Tom continues to shape the creative, media and marketing landscape, one visionary project at a time.

With a rich professional journey that spans continents and industries, Tom finds balance and joy in his personal life. He cherishes time spent with his partner, four children, and dog, all nestled in the vibrant city of Brisbane, Australia. Outside of the boardroom, you’ll likely find him exploring nature trails and the wonderful experiences Australia has to offer, indulging his passion for creativity, or enjoying quality time with loved ones.
